Dear Supporters,
Firstly, please accept our apologies for a lack of communication since the end of February. This has been due to an inability to move forward with land permissions for field walking and metal detecting since April 2025 and administrative issues regarding some proposed isotope testing by Dr. Stephen Harding of Nottingham University.
As always, our overall aim is to look for clues in the landscape that would indicate a battlefield by both firstly judiciously selecting land for analysis and then perhaps initially field walking and metal detecting to unearth supporting evidence. This would then enable a crucially focussed further Heritage Lottery application.
We hope to have an update on land permissions and isotope testing in the next few days and will send a further communication as soon as possible. We don’t currently have a date for the BOHIS A.G.M. but this is likely to be deferred until late January 2026, as we would like to provide some positive operational news.
Secondly, as you may be aware, we have been working with Mercian CIC (our archaeological provider) since 2013. They and many other experts will be presenting / attending at the, ‘Current Archaeological Research in the Midlands and Abroad Conference’ at Nottingham Trent University on both Saturday/Sunday 22/23rd of November.
For each day, Registration is 9 until 10am and the conference will run from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are £10 which provides entry for both days.
Location: Teaching and Learning Building, Clifton Campus, Clifton Lane, Nottingham, NG11 8NS

This event provides an excellent opportunity for supporters to interact with the wider archaeological community and to catch up with BOHIS.
We hope to see you there.
Regards,
