Our 22nd Meeting (& delayed AGM) is on Friday 13th March at 7:30pm at Cuckney Village Hall.
You should note that we have a meeting with the producer of Channel 5’s ‘History Hit’ tomorrow (18th Feb.) and that this programme will definitely be produced (potentially) around early May.
We will be discussing the programme format to include supporter involvement and content.

Please find attached our Membership form for 2026. It would really help if you printed this out and completed it at home and then handed it in at the meeting with your 2026 subscription (still £10 for adults).

Jun 25 In Jan 25 – Offer (Aug 24) from Finds Liaison Officer, Meghan King, to catalogue all the Nov 22 – Mar 24 finds & include in PAS Website (finds.org).
Partial permission granted by Welbeck (Nov 24), to analyse but not include in PAS website without further Welbeck permission. UPDATE : Find sheets only completed for 27 key items by Meghan, all 2022-24 finds returned in Jun 25.
Jun 25 – Cataloguing + Final Report of 2018-20 finds by MERCIAN was due 14/9/24. DELAYED but agreed with Welbeck as deliverable by 31/5/25. UPDATE : Final MERCIAN PDF Report for 2020 items was delivered on 2/6/25.

Jan 26 – Jan 25 Request to Welbeck (originally in Apr 2024) that Prof. Stephen Harding, (Prof. of Applied Biochemistry, Nottm. Uni.) be allowed to isotope test 3 items (arrow head, sword pommel and ‘raven head’ pieces). UPDATE : Revised Permission (with extra conditions) granted by Welbeck but unacceptable to BOHIS or Dr. Harding. Amendment proposal now with Welbeck (Jan 26)

Jan 26 – Jan – Mar 25 Fieldwork with CMDC .. a few nice finds including a Roman weight and potentially very old sword or dagger blade. New fieldwork / detecting proposed to Welbeck (Jan 26).
- Feb 26 – MERCIAN asked re. status of 2018 finds Excel documentation and whether a further 2018 report is due or part of the, “A Selection of Interesting Finds from Cuckney (or 50+ finds from Cuckney)” – (delivered Feb 22).

Nov 25 – Nottm. Trent University conference attendance – 2 days – “Current Archaeological Research in the Midlands ..” Potential offer by Jay Silverstein / Ryan Austin for complementary XRF analysis (to the isotope testing by Dr. Harding)

Dec 25 – Internet meeting with Paul Jameson / Matthew Lewis / Bill Locke (Channel 5 producer) for BOHIS inclusion in, “History Hit”.
Jan – c. Mar 26 – Steve Mitchell / Paul Jameson microfiche based research into report by member of public that Mansfield Newspaper(s) of 1950/1 had a picture of workmen with skulls on window ledge inside St. Mary’s, Cuckney. Plausible – given Alan Egley deposition.

Feb 26 – Talk about Battle of Hatfield to, “University of the 3rd Age” (U3A) in Warsop.
