Dear All,
It’s finally happened !
As part of our, “Warriors Through The Landscape” project, we reviewed Norton & Carburton POW Camps (1944 – 8), and the associated POW books (funded by the HLF) have arrived this afternoon.
All of you that took part in the project & are therefore entitled to a free copy of the POW book each – if you would like one.
Note : The General Community book, “Explain The Terrain” is also in production & should be available by 30/4/19. This covers all other elements of the project such as the Castle, the Water Meadows system – utilising LIDAR & GPS techniques & Robin Orr’s excellent drone based aerial photography (thanks Robin !). This will also be offered FREE to those that attended the HLF funded project (May to November 2018).
So – we will be at the Greendale Oak tonight at 8pm promptly and will guarantee to stay until at least 9pm – in order to give you your free copy.
If you can’t make it tonight, then don’t worry – we will be holding at least 1 more distribution session in the next few weeks – we’ll let you know when.
If you attended the project in 2018 ONLY, it would be good if you could let me know if you will be there tonight – so we know approx. how many copies to bring.
If you cannot attend tonight – please send me a mail indicating whether you will be requiring a FREE copy of the POW book & possibly a FREE copy of the General Community Book “Explain The Terrain” (when it’s published).
For those supporters that were not able to attend, there may still be FREE copies available after those that attended have availed themselves – so it would be good if you dropped me a mail indicating your interest.

Hello at BOHIS, here at Nottingham City Libraries we are trying to get hold of print copies of the book Warriors through the landscape: An Appreciation of Norton and Carburton POW camps 1944-1948 for our main Local Studies Library which covers Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
We don’t have any at present and notice that Inspire (Notts County) libraries have some that were donated, if it would be possible to have 2 copies, one for reference and 1 for loan that would be great. Or if you could let me know where to get them from.

I will ask Jennie (our Vice Chair, who works at Worksop Library – closed due to flood damage presently !!) to put 2 copies of each of our POW book & also our Explain The Terrain book in the internal mail for you.
